Wedding Photographer Cambridge

I’m Ben, a reportage wedding photographer covering the whole of Cambridgeshire. With a documentary approach my aim is quite simple; to tell the story of your special day, capturing beautiful candid moments as they unfold. The best way to get a feel for my unobtrusive photographic style is to browse my portfolio, but should you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to send me a message.

Cambridge Wedding Photography without the cheese

Though born and raised in Bedford, the first few weddings I ever photographed were in Cambridge and it’s a location I love heading back to. I’m situated just down the road, so it’s one of my most popular wedding photography locations, not just because I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many lovely couples, but because my style of photography is perfect for this historic county. With the help of my assistant and second-shooter Kim, we photograph bride and grooms in the moment, documenting their complete day as it unfolds. For me, great wedding photography is not just about capturing stunning photographs, it’s also about taking images that paint a true picture of the day, so that in years to come you can relive real memories. I don’t want you to look back at a series of awkward or cheesy poses, I want you to relax on the day and enjoy the occasion knowing I’ll be capturing beautiful moments from start to finish. If I sound like your cup of tea, why not take a look at some of my wedding albums or see if I’m available for your big day.

My approach to wedding photography in Cambridgeshire

The best way to get a feel for my style and to see if I’m the right photographer for you is to take a look at a selection of my favourite moments. As you browse my galleries you should find that I’m very laid back in my approach, and this allows me and my partner Kim to capture creative, emotive and natural photographs. Photographing a wedding in Cambridgeshire is always such an honour, and in my experience, having a second pair of hands can be a big bonus, which is why all of my wedding photography packages include an assistant, also known as a second shooter. I know that not every bride will feel 100% comfortable with a male present during the ‘getting ready’ window, so having my partner Kim to step in can make total sense. Being a wedding photographer in Cambridge, I’ve learned the art of anticipation, seeing beautiful moments building up before I’m ready to press the shutter. I do my best to cover as much of the day as I possibly can, but it’s always nice to know Kim is documenting special moments too, and that’s why we work together to create a wedding album that reflects the complete story of your day.

A little bit about me…

Having never been one to enjoy being in front of the camera, I know how important it is to choose a photographer who not only puts you at ease but works well under pressure. Unlike traditional photographers, I don’t ask you to ‘say cheese’ or ‘wave your jazz hands’; I work away in the background capturing a series of beautiful candid photographs.

Why consider me as your wedding photographer in Cambridgeshire?

  • Absolutely no awkward poses.
  • You can relax and enjoy your day, knowing your unique story is being documented by two professional photographers.
  • I edit, edit and edit again.
  • I come fully equipped and insured with backup equipment at the ready.

Just a few Cambridgeshire wedding venues I love:

Below I’ve provided a brief overview of some of the most popular wedding venues in Cambridge. All of which would be perfect locations for documentary wedding photography, so if you’re still in the planning stages be sure to check them out!

What a beautiful country retreat for a wedding. The Old Hall in Ely is a very popular wedding venue in Cambridgeshire and it’s no wonder why. Couples not only get to enjoy the stunning grounds and the classic main house, but there are also marquees, a beautiful lit-up lake and gorgeous accommodation.

A fantastic period English home for a wedding with pretty grounds, stunning architecture and rich history found in every corner. It dates from the reign of Elizabeth I of England and it’s still very secluded, as it was back then, hidden within ancient woodland revealing a magnificent English garden that’s perfect for candid wedding photos.

A very unique location to host a wedding, Swynford Manor is within easy reach of the city and the market town of Newmarket. Inside and out there’s a very distinctive yet luxurious style. It somehow manages to blend contemporary features with rural charm, and it has become one of the most popular wedding venues in Cambridgeshire.

If you’re planning on tying the knot in Ely, you’ve most probably heard of Poets House. This historic hotel includes a number of Grade-II-listed properties, but don’t be fooled by the classic exterior, it’s incredibly comfortable, contemporary and lavish inside.

With a 12th Century Church, a Lakeside Pavilion, a moat and acres of luscious gardens, what’s not to love about Sturmer Hall? This venue is the perfect location in Cambridge if you’re looking for country rural charm, and that character will without a doubt come through in your stunning wedding photos.

Like many English barn wedding venues, Childerley Long Barn is a more relaxed wedding location that’s bursting with character. It’s thought to be one of the longest timber-framed barns in England and can seat up to 350 guests, so it’s certainly more versatile than it may appear.

This Grade 1 listed mansion is picturesque inside and out. As a country house built in the 17th century, the period features are clear to see, whilst the luscious lawn is the perfect location for formal photographs with the historic building in the background.

With clean lines and exposed brick, this venue is more modern on the eye, but it enjoys a rather calming position on edge of city centre, away from everyday hustle and bustle. The well-kept lawns and mature borders provide the perfect backdrop for reportage wedding photos that live long in the memory.
